YPG series Coffee Spray Dryer

This unit is an apparatus that can perform drying and granulation simultaneously. By adjusting the pressure, flow rate, and atomizing orifice size according to process requirements, ball granules of the desired size and ratio can be obtained.

The working process of the unit is as follows: The raw material liquid is pumped by a high-pressure pump and atomized into fine droplets, which then mix with hot air and descend. Most of the powder material is collected at the bottom discharge outlet. The waste air and fine powder are separated in a cyclone separator. The waste air is exhausted by a draught fan, while the powder is collected at the bottom of the cyclone. A two-stage dust collector can also be equipped at the outlet, achieving a recovery rate of over 96%-98%.

The tower body, pipes, and separator of the unit—all parts that contact the raw material—are made of SUS304 stainless steel. There is an adequate layer of thermal insulation between the inner and outer walls of the tower body, filled with fine glass wool. The tower body is also equipped with an observation door, sight glass, lamp housing, and control instruments, which are operated via the electric control panel.

The heat source for the unit can be steam or an electric heater. Its features include convenient operation, quick startup, compact structure, and clean hot air. Furthermore, with the control and regulation devices installed inside the electric control cabinet, the inlet temperature can be controlled through stepless regulation. Steam or coal fuel can be applied in locations without electricity, serving as a partial or complete replacement for electric heating. The factory can provide different heating methods according to the customer’s practical conditions.

  • The drying speed is fast. The surface area of the raw material liquid increases significantly after atomization, allowing 95%–98% of the moisture to be evaporated instantly. The drying process takes approximately ten to several tens of seconds, making it particularly suitable for heat-sensitive materials.

Working Principle of Coffee Spray Dryer

The coffee spray drying’s core process is to atomize high-concentration coffee liquid into tiny droplets and rapidly evaporate the water under the action of hot air, thereby forming uniformly sized instant coffee powder.

Atomization: The espresso liquid is pumped into the spray system, and it is decomposed into extremely fine droplets through a high-pressure nozzle or a high-speed rotating centrifugal atomizer.

Drying: The hot air processed by the heater enters the drying chamber in a stable flow field and comes into full contact with the atomized droplets. Its moisture evaporates within seconds and transforms the droplets into dry particles.

Collection: The dried coffee particles are efficiently separated from the airflow through a cyclone separator, bag filter or multi-stage separation system.

The final coffee is collected at the bottom of the tower or in the collection bin, and then can enter the cooling, sieving, mixing or packaging processes.

Air Flow Coffee Spray Dryer

Air flow coffee spray dryer is a highly adaptable spray equipment that mixes compressed air with coffee liquid for atomization. Its atomization pressure is generally 0.3 to 0.8 MPa. 

This equipment can flexibly handle a wide range of material properties, including some coffee extracts with large viscosity variations, and can also flexibly control the particle size by adjusting the gas-liquid ratio.

Feeding System

The feeding system can stably transport coffee extract into the spray system.

For coffee liquid with high solid content or high viscosity, you can choose insulated pipelines and variable frequency control metering pumps to lower flow fluctuations and maintain stable solid content. Sprayer
