What is a Rotary Granulator?

It is a wet granulator that processes wet materials into uniform granules through the combination of extrusion and rotation. Unlike rotary drum granulators, it is suitable for small to medium batch production. A rotary granulator is often used in conjunction with mixers and dryers.

Working Principle of Rotary Granulator

Material addition: The treated wet material is fed into the extrusion rollers of the rotary granulator. The moisture content is usually 10-15% to ensure that the wet material can be extruded into shape.

Extruded Material: The pre-compression device compacts the material and pushes it into the granulation room. The extrusion rollers rotate at high speed, forcing the compacted material into a mold with holes. The material is then extruded through the holes of the mold.

Discharge: The extruded particles are cut into appropriate lengths by a cutting device and discharged from the discharge port.

Key Components of Rotary Granulator

Feeding Device

The feeding device consists of a hopper and a feeding tube. FANQUN rotary granulators offer rotary granulators with automatic feeding devices, which can feed materials into the hopper evenly and continuously, avoiding hopper blockage caused by overfeeding.

Extrusion Roller

It is also known as a spiral impeller, and it is made of high-strength alloy steel, which is wear-resistant. It is used to agitate materials, ensuring uniform distribution. The special design of the spiral reduces heat generation during its rotation, protecting heat-sensitive materials.

The rotational motion of the extrusion roller helps separate viscous materials, making them more fluid during extrusion.

Molds  

Different apertures and shapes of the molds are designed according to particle diameter. FANQUN rotary granulators can custom mold opening inclination and channel length-to-diameter ratio to your required particle size. The molds have no obstructions on the sides, which is convenient for the discharge of viscous materials. We offer both fixed and removable molds. The removable molds are easy to clean.

Structures Made of Stainless Steel

The parts that directly contact the materials are made of 316L stainless steel, which is more corrosion-resistant than 304L stainless steel. These stainless steels are polished to achieve a smoothness of Ra≤0.8 μm. Even highly viscous wet materials have difficulty adhering to it.

Parts that don’t directly contact the materials are made of 304L stainless steel, which is also smooth and easy to clean. Our dryers meet GMP hygiene standards.

Chemical Industry

Pesticide powders: talc, granules.

Fertilizers: Organic fertilizers such as compost and bone meal. Inorganic fertilizers such as urea, ammonium bicarbonate, and superphosphate.
