PFQ-YPG-HXseries Chemical Spray Dryer

This unit is an apparatus that can perform drying and granulation simultaneously. By adjusting the pressure, flow rate, and atomizing orifice size according to process requirements, ball granules of the desired size and ratio can be obtained.

The working process of the unit is as follows: The raw material liquid is pumped by a high-pressure pump and atomized into fine droplets, which then mix with hot air and descend. Most of the powder material is collected at the bottom discharge outlet. The waste air and fine powder are separated in a cyclone separator. The waste air is exhausted by a draught fan, while the powder is collected at the bottom of the cyclone. A two-stage dust collector can also be equipped at the outlet, achieving a recovery rate of over 96%-98%.

The tower body, pipes, and separator of the unit—all parts that contact the raw material—are made of SUS304 stainless steel. There is an adequate layer of thermal insulation between the inner and outer walls of the tower body, filled with fine glass wool. The tower body is also equipped with an observation door, sight glass, lamp housing, and control instruments, which are operated via the electric control panel.

The heat source for the unit can be steam or an electric heater. Its features include convenient operation, quick startup, compact structure, and clean hot air. Furthermore, with the control and regulation devices installed inside the electric control cabinet, the inlet temperature can be controlled through stepless regulation. Steam or coal fuel can be applied in locations without electricity, serving as a partial or complete replacement for electric heating. A spray dryer mainly relies on a high-pressure nozzle to atomize liquids and then dries them by hot air. The working principle of a spray dryer used for the chemical industry typically includes the following steps:

  • Step 1 – Preparation of Raw Material: The chemical industry involves various different types of raw materials, such as solutions, suspensions, or emulsions. Before the drying process, these liquids should be processed to control their solid content, viscosity, and flowability. The properties of raw materials are directly connected to finished powder quality.
  • Step 2 – Atomization: The spray dryer is equipped with a nozzle with high pressure, completely atomizing raw liquids into fine droplets. It controls the droplet size within a range of 10- 150μm. In general, the more even the droplets, the higher the consistency of the finished powder.
