GSL series Wet Granulator
Application of GSL series Wet Granulator
It is suitable for pharmaceutical industry, foodstuff industry, chemical industry and so on. The granule is made from powder to damp granule in which the adhesive should be injected in it.
Features of GSL series Wet Granulator
- The machine adopts horizontal cylinder structure, its structure is reasonable, no dead corner.
- The driving shaft is air sealed. When washing, it can be changed to water.
- Fluidized granulation, the granule is around ball shape, its fluid is good.
- Compared with traditional process, 25% of adhesive can be reduced and the drying time is short.
- The dry mixing time is 2 minutes and the granulating time is 1-4 minutes. Compared to the traditional process, 4-5 times of efficiency is raised.
- Dry mixing, humid mixing and granulating are finished in the same sealed container. It is in conformity with the requirements of GMP.

Principle of GSL series Wet Granulator

What is the Wet Granulator?
The wet granulator is an electromechanical equipment for granulating powder into particles. It added liquid adhesives to the powder mixture to form moist clumps, then used an extruder to make the specific size of particles you need.
How the Wet Granulator Works?
Step 1: Feeding
The wet granulator has an automatic filling system to fill the material into the container. Because the powder usually has aggregated particles when gathering production workshop, these particles will affect the liquidity and consistency of the powder. It is necessary to break the aggregated particles to get a uniform particle size distribution. The specific breaking method depends on the status of the powder.
Step 2: Mixing
When the air fills the liquid level you need, close the vacuum valve and open the exhaust valve. Use a control panel or manual to control the rotation speed of the impeller and chopper. The impeller rotation direction on the contrary of the chopper rotation speed. The fluidisation of the particles will achieve an even mix of your materials.
Step 3: Adding Granulation Solution
After your powder is totally mixed and dispersed, the nozzle will open automatically. The adhesives will enter the material tank through a conical hopper. The adhesive solution will be injected into the moving particles. The rotating and injection are concurrent at a preset speed.
Under the agitation of the stirring paddle, the particles start to gather and stick together. Then, the blades are squeezed, rubbed, and kneaded against the cylinder wall, and the materials become loose particles.
Step 4: Discharging Particles
When the particles reach a suitable size density, the nozzle will close automatically. The impeller rotational speed is getting reduced and the discharge gate will open. The low-speed rotation will push the particles into the grinding chamber for further processing. Different mesh sizes of screens can produce particles of different sizes. You can choose screens with different aperture sizes according to your needs.
Types of the Wet Granulator
The wet granulator can be divided into different types according to operating mode, features. The following will introduce you to the most commonly used types of wet granulators: the high-shear granulator and the fluid bed granulator.
High-Shear Granulator
The high-shear granulator is the traditional type of wet granulation machine. Its strong mixing ability can give you precise control of the materials. The high-shear granulator is combined with a closed mixing bowl, a high-speed impeller and a chop the leaves.
The powdered raw materials and adhesives will rotate at high speed to knead into wet granules. The high-shear granulator can be divided into top drive type and bottom drive type depending on the driving method. Easy to Maintain
The wet granulator with a top drive system with a top cover design that can be automatically opened and closed. The blenders and shredders will enter the granulator from the top cover, and the mixing bowl will start to produce when elevated to the blade section. All the inner components, including the mixing bowl, chopper and seals, can be easily removed for you to clean and inspect.
Large Throughput
The most widely used high shear granulator has a large throughput. The stirring blades of the bottom-drive system are located at the bottom of the processing bowl. The choppers are located on the side. The special design has an advantage in dealing with the large quantity of materials.
The largest processing volume of the bottom-drive system is 2000L can be processed with a maximum 60%-70% rated capacity of materials. While the top-drive system has the largest processing volume of 1200L, with about 67% rated capacity.
Durable
The feed hopper and discharge tank are made from low-carbon steel. The outer casing of the wet granulator can be made of stainless steel or titanium alloy with a long service life and shorter maintenance cost.
The transmission system of the wet granulator has a heavy-duty gearbox and waterproof sealed bearings. In addition, the lubrication system and overload protection device can effectively reduce the frequency of machine wear and failure.
